So what happens in the play ?
OK, here is a summary.
Mamo and Bernadette’s mother dies.
A stranger pretends to be a family friend but sells them to a farmer. They are treated really badly.
Pepe is in trouble with his father who gets a cruel tutor for him. His mother goes to London for an operation. Pepe and his twin, Isabella plan to run away.
Pepe and Bernadette do escape. They stay with Rosita an old woman with a fruit farm. Mamo is ill, Bernadette returns to the city to find work and a home for them both with cousin, Tomasa.
Pepe and Isabella have a hard time on the streets.
Mamo gets better and tries to find Bernadette.
Instead he finds Mamo and Isabella. A dog, Nando, brings them together and they become friends.
Bernadette returns for Mamo and has to stay with Rosita who breaks her leg.
Mamo, Pepe and Isabella are invited to join La Familia because of the dog. The leader is Amando and he has a little sister, Angelita.
Rosita’s son returns and he and Bernadette fall in love.
Bernadette goes back to the city once more to continue her search for Mamo.
Mamo, Pepe and Isabella are OK in the gang but bad-boy Edwardo hates Pepe and Angelita is ill.
Bernadette can’t get her job back and has nowhere to stay. She returns to Rosita’s and marries Salmenio. They will have one last search for Mamo.
Angelita is very ill. Edwardo wants La Familia to mug tourists. They don’t and boy, is he cross.
The police try to round up street children.
Edwardo and Amando have a fight and Edwardo leaves the gang.
Will Angelita survive ?
Will Mamo ever reunite with his sister?
Will Pepe and Isabella ever return home?

Each year, Y6 stage an ambitious end of year production which combines a dramatic script with dance. This year’s work is titled StreetDust – a story about street children. All of Y6 are fully involved at all levels :
We have written the script, created the dances, scenery and props.
We will be designing a lighting plan and will operate the lights and all aspects of audio visual effects.
We based the play on a book called 'The Garbage King' by Elizabeth Laird. The production is now fully underway and we invite you to our performances.

What is this blog about ?
This Blog is about year 6's production StreetDust and is used so you and others can find out what is going on and the preparation for the production . Also we will have a daily update of interviews,what is going on ,and other information , this blog represents us Year 6's at Denmead
Junior School .
It is the end of year Y6 production - a performance of a play , written by the children , with dances created by the children . It is based on a book called the Garbage King written by Elizabeth Laird it is about street children read on for a reveiw about the book .
This blog represents Y6 at Denmead Junior School , Bere Road , Denmead ,Waterlooville ,Hants.
The performances are on the 16 and 17 th July .
